Book Table Robbed – Again

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Good Hope

Thieves attacked our popular ‘Book Table’ outside Main X-Ray in the Richard Salt Unit again last week. This time it was a planned robbery as they came equipped with chain cutters and other tools, removing one collecting box and smashing the lock on the other. This is a sad day for us, the patients and the supporters of the ‘Book Table.’ We feel sorry for the people who did this who feel that stealing charity money in Good Hope Hospital is acceptable behaviour. We have now withdrawn the service as we cannot allow money destined to support patient facilities to be stolen.

The Friends have donated 4 DAB Radios to Wards 8, 9, 11 & 12 for use by patients who do not have ‘Smart Phones or Tablets’ This will make a big difference to radio lovers who have not been able to get their favourite stations on the Patientline System. The Radios are battery powered and take the standard headphones used in the hospital. Tony Cannon, Chair of the Friends said that supplying these radios fitted well with the Friends remit of improving the experience for Patients while in hospital.
