Thieves attacked our popular ‘Book Table’ outside Main X-Ray in the Richard Salt Unit again last week. This time it was a planned robbery as they came equipped with chain cutters and other tools, removing one collecting box and smashing the lock on the other. This is a sad day for us, the patients and the supporters of the ‘Book Table.’ We feel sorry for the people who did this who feel that stealing charity money in Good Hope Hospital is acceptable behaviour. We have now withdrawn the service as we cannot allow money destined to support patient facilities to be stolen.
We have applied to be ‘Charity of Year’ for the Wylde Green Branch for the coming year. Voting takes place in store and online, it closes on 24th June. Here is the link Vote Now – please support the hospital and its patients by voting for the Friends

The Friends were delighted to support Mark and his Team by purchasing the 10 Treatment chairs at a cost of some £16,000 – thank you to all the people who have donated to the Friends at various events through the town and to our various sponsors. The new treatment room was opened to patients on Tuesday 8th May 2018
This popular service is up and running until after Easter, lots of new titles available, if you have the time check it out and help fund additional facilities for patients. Book donations of good quality paperbacks are always welcome – just leave them under the table. If you have a large quantity let us know and we will collect.
If you are visiting the Treatment Centre at the hospital check out the new range of paintings that are on display and available to buy at reasonable prices. All are from established midlands artists who pay a hanging fee and donate 10% of every sale to the Friends Community Fund that is use to buy extras for patients to improve their hospital experience.
The Friends have donated 4 DAB Radios to Wards 8, 9, 11 & 12 for use by patients who do not have ‘Smart Phones or Tablets’ This will make a big difference to radio lovers who have not been able to get their favourite stations on the Patientline System. The Radios are battery powered and take the standard headphones used in the hospital. Tony Cannon, Chair of the Friends said that supplying these radios fitted well with the Friends remit of improving the experience for Patients while in hospital.
Our first Book Table of 2018 is now up and running outside Main X-Ray until next Saturday. We have something for everyone so make a point of stopping by, all donations are used to benefit patients. Thank you for your support.
New batch of paintings from the ‘Knowle Art Group’ now on display and available to buy at the Friends Art Exhibition in the Treatment Centre, check them out if you visit the hospital.
