The Friends in association with the Good Hope Hospital Charity ran Tom Webster’s popular TomBola at EXPO today and greatly enjoyed meeting both old and new supporters including a visit from the Mayor, David Pears. The event raised over £150 for the hospital – it would have been more but, unfortunately, the rain came down at 3:00pm. This is the second year the Friends have had a stall and we would like to extend our appreciation to Mike Bushell and the BID for mounting the event – Also ‘Eventmen’ who set up the stalls and were most helpful when we arrived. We look forward to taking part again next year.

The friends were delighted to receive £410 from the staff at the Mere Green store as part of their Community Matters Programme. Tony Cannon, Chair of the Friends stated that “This is an excellent scheme by Waitrose and allows their customers to choose from three local charities each month. We were delighted by the number of ‘Green Tokens’ deposited in our box and the money raised will wholly go towards improving the patient experience at Good Hope Hospital. Because we are a voluntary group we take no expenses from the fund and there are no administration fees so all donations go to benefit Good Hope Patients.
