The friends were delighted to receive £410 from the staff at the Mere Green store as part of their Community Matters Programme. Tony Cannon, Chair of the Friends stated that “This is an excellent scheme by Waitrose and allows their customers to choose from three local charities each month. We were delighted by the number of ‘Green Tokens’ deposited in our box and the money raised will wholly go towards improving the patient experience at Good Hope Hospital. Because we are a voluntary group we take no expenses from the fund and there are no administration fees so all donations go to benefit Good Hope Patients.

The team was hard at work last weekend with the first collection for the 2017/18 charity year. Members were present each day and were delighted to meet new people and discuss the work of the Friends and the services provided by Good Hope Hospital. We never cease to be amazed by the generosity of Sainsburys customers and the warm regard that they have for the hospital and its staff. A total of £823 was raised which will go towards new equipment and facilities for the benefit of patients. The next collection weekend is the 2nd & 3rd September and we look forward to seeing you all again then.

The Friends were approached by the Good Hope Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation  Department to provide top up funding for a new ‘Shockwave Machine’ which is used to treat a variety of conditions including ‘Achilles Tendinopathy and Plantar Fasciitis.’ They also needed a ‘Dyson Fan’ for their injection room which suffers from being very cold in Winter and  too hot in Summer. The friends were happy to top up the funding for the Shockwave and purchased a ‘Dyson Pure Hot and Cool Link Purifier’ for the Injections Room. This was presented by Tony Cannon to Alison Jackson and Adam Brookes at Good Hope

We are delighted to announce that Sainsburys Local, Walsall Road have chosen us as their Charity of the Year for 2017/18. This is the second year that they have supported Good Hope Hospital which is most appreciated. Everyone we meet at the store has a friendly word to say about Good Hope and its staff – many have personal experience of its services. The Friends Team will be collecting on the first weekend of each month and look forward to meeting both old and new customers. We plan to run Christmas and Easter Promotions again as these were extremely well received last year.
